Given the current situation that many of us across the world find ourselves in, keeping good care of our personal hygiene has never been more important. Here are few tips to improve the oral health
Never share toothbrushes
Whether you are related or how close you are to the people you live with you should never share your toothbrush with anybody, this is one way that viruses and blood-borne diseases can be caught from other people. You should make sure that toothbrush heads are also kept apart from each other, ideally by using toothbrush caps.
Changing your toothbrushes on a regular basis
It is important to change your toothbrush or your brush heads at least every three months, or even earlier if the bristles become frayed.
This is to ensure you are brushing your teeth effectively, a worn-down brush will not be able to clean all parts of the teeth.
Close the toilet lid before you flush
Where you keep your toothbrush is very important as if you store your brush anywhere near your toilet, every time someone flushes some of the spray may land on your toothbrush which you don’t want to happen.
So, make sure your brush is a safe distance away from your toilet or make sure you close the lid before you flush.
Maintaining regular visits to your dentist will always be important in order to keep a check on the health of your teeth and gums and ensure there is no decay left untreated. The dentist also checks the soft tissues in the mouth in order to eliminate the chances of developing any form of tumour cancer in the mouth and throat region, therefore making dental visits a vital part of maintaining good health.
Clean your bathroom regularly
Our bathrooms are the place where many of us store our toothbrushes and many other items to maintain cleanliness and it’s also the place we go in order to get clean. Therefore, it is important that the surfaces in the bathroom are cleaned regularly using a bleach-based cleaning product to eliminate the bacteria and germs effectively.
Don’t forget to do the basics
Our oral health should always be a priority; visiting your local dental team when possible but also not to forget the simple day-to-day habits that will help you keep a healthy mouth are essential.
Brush daily with a fluoride toothpaste twice daily (some people may do it more). Drink plenty of water and cut down on how much and how often you have sugary foods and drinks. Clean between your teeth every day with interdental brushes or floss and consider using mouthwash too at a separate time of day to brushing. These are all factors that can help keep your oral health good and healthy.
